Progress to Date

The work on this issue had its genesis in 1978 when we introduced metrics to the human resources profession. In 1985, we published the first benchmarks. To date, we have trained over 80,000 persons in 40 countries. Now, it is time to raise the analytic bar once again.

In 2006, Workforce Intelligence Institute (WII) collected data from 70 research centers and surveyed 740 companies compiling over 350 interviews and case studies. The goal was to display evidence of how investing in people drives economic value. The study confirmed that belief and was published in the Workforce Intelligence Reports  July 2006 and January 2007.

Now, the program is moving onto the predictive stage.

The second meeting was held in Chicago on October 9.  Presentations were made by Dr. Jac on the Predictive Planner module, which is nearing completion.  Nick Bontis, world authority on intellectual capital presented his research on causal modeling.  Doug Hubbard, author of How to Measure Anything, showed examples of measuring intangibles.  Charlie Berger of Oracle demonstrated examples of data mining techniques.  Humair Ghauri of Oracle reviewed the Use Cases submitted by members and led the discussion of the development of a software application.  Issues of descriptive and predictive analytics as they relate to human capital management were covered.  Oracle will continue its research into development of a data mining package.
